About Tom: From Southeast PA to Full-Time Ocean City
Tom Thornton grew up in a family of seven in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, and he later graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School. He started in residential remodeling in the early 1970s and has been building and remodeling homes ever since: from small bathrooms to multi-million-dollar custom homes, first across the Delaware Valley and now at the shore.
Tom made a home for his family in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. For more than 20 years, he has also been part of Ocean City, where he had a historic four-story home on Central Avenue. A winter freeze burst the pipes there and flooded the house, and the home was lost. Afterward, Tom moved to the bay side of town for a calmer, more relaxed boating lifestyle.
That experience gave Tom a firsthand understanding of water damage. As a result, he pays close attention to plumbing, moisture protection and durable materials in every project. Today, Tri-County General Contracting is based in Ocean City, and Tom works here full-time.
In addition, many of the kitchens Tom remodeled in the 1980s have been remodeled again, by Tom, in recent years. That is how he likes to work: build it right, and the customer comes back.
How Tom Works
Tri-County General Contracting LLC is a family-owned and operated business, and we have never wanted to grow bigger than our ability to give true, hands-on service. A few things that do not change:
- Owner on every job. Tom is personally on site and hand-picks his crew and subcontractors for professionalism, craftsmanship and reliability.
- A small job load. We typically run one or two jobs at a time, so each project gets top priority.
- An honest, competitive estimate. You also get a written proposal after an in-home visit.
- A clean, courteous work area. We protect your home, clean up daily and, when possible, keep your routine as normal as we can.
- On time, as scheduled. We show up when we say we will and keep you informed at every step.
- References. If you like, ask for a list of past clients, or read the testimonials.
About Tom’s Credentials
Tri-County General Contracting LLC is a licensed and insured New Jersey home improvement contractor, NJ HIC #[license number]. Certificates of insurance are available on request, including for condo associations. Tom has also been remodeling kitchens and bathrooms for roughly fifty years.
